Java Sunda Hejo 'Margamulya' (2018 Crop)

Sunda Hejo is a premium mark that Olam Specialty Coffee sources directly from small holder farmers in this mountainous region of West Java. Fresh coffee cherries are carefully chosen and pulped in small batches. Fermented overnight and washed clean, the parchment is dried on raised beds in bamboo greenhouses. A truly hand-crafted coffee! Beginning in 2016, Olam was part of a 2-year reforestation project in this region aimed to preserve the Indonesian forest while generating a stable income for farmers. Over 1,000 smallholders cultivated small forest plots of about 5 acres each, planting more than 100,000 trees of 17 different native species over the course of the project.
